Highland County hosts festivals, fairs, parades, street dances and other events through-out the year, made all the more interesting by our sparse population.

For any special occasion, from a Thanksgiving feast to a Mothers Day Buffet, the traditional place to get a memorable meal is the Highland Inn.

May 11 - Mothers Day Brunch  Local matriarchs expect to be treated to Brunch at the Highland Inn on this special day. Click on the title to see our 2007 Special Menu.  Reservations Recommended.
May 23 to 26 - Memorial Day Weekend  Kick off the Tourist Season at the Highland Inn!  Rooms are filling fast for this weekend with a two-night minimum stay requirement.
June 14 - Motorcycle Camp Night in Blue Grass  Click on the title for more information on this annual event that benefits the Blue Grass Book Bank, a Non-Profit Children's Library.  Want to go but not the camping-out type?  Check with us for availability.
June 14 - Highland Hills 5k Run Click on the title for more information. We have rooms available for this annual Saturday morning run.
June 15 - Fathers Day Brunch  Who needs an excuse to have Brunch at the Highland Inn?  Bring Dad along. Click on the title to see last years menu.
July 4 to 6 - Independence Day Weekend  This year July 4th is on a Friday making for a long holiday weekend.  Watch the Blue Grass Childrens' July 4th Parade at 10 a.m.  The Sugar Grove Naval Station will have fireworks at dusk, which is open to the public.
July 12 & 13 Monterey House & Garden Tour  Click on the title for more information.  The event that takes place in "even" numbered years will include a luncheon and horticultural lecture with a tour of Monterey homes and gardens on Saturday.  Sunday tour different gardens and houses in the County.
July 12 - Lions Club Street Dance & BBQ  Click on the title for more information.   The annual dance on Spruce Street will also feature a WVLS Celebrity Auction on the Courthouse Lawn.
August 2 - Mountain Mama Road Bike Challenge  Click on the title for more information. This event has a special rate which is $20.00 higher than the regular rate.  A minimum two night stay is required for this popular annual event.
August 27 to 30 - Highland County Fair  Click on the title for more information.  An old time Virginia County Fair, held on the week leading up to Labor Day on Monday, September 1.  Rooms are available on the weekend with a two-night minimum stay requirement.
September 13 & 14 - Treasure Mountain Festival  Click on the title for more information on this event in our neighboring West Virginia county of Pendleton.
October 3 to 6 - Columbus Day Weekend   Enjoy a long weekend and the Fall Foliage season in Highland County.  Most October weekends are available with a two-night minimum stay requirement. Weekdays have no restrictions.
October 11 & 12 - Hands & Harvest Festival   Click on the title for more information on this event which is the centerpiece of the glorious Fall Foliage season in Highland County.  There is a two-night minimum stay requirement.
November 22 - Thanksgiving Day Feast  Click on the title to see the planned buffet menu. Call for reservations for seatings at 11:30am, 12:45pm and 2:00pm. We are not open for dinner after the Feast.
December 6 & 7 - Wintertide  Click on the title for more information on Highland County's annual tree lighting and related events.  Dinner reservations recommended.
December 25 - Christmas  Christmas is the one holiday we give our valued staff off. Dining will be closed on Wednesday Christmas Eve and Thursday Christmas Day.  Dining will re-open on Friday, December 26.  Guestrooms will be available by advance reservation, without breakfast.
December 31-New Year's Eve Dinner  Check back here to see our plans for 2008 later in the year.
February 14, 2009 -Valentines Day Dinner We will offer our regular menu with five additional monthly specials so you can have a special Valentines Day Dinner on Saturday, February 14.
February 13 to 16 - Presidents Day Weekend  Time for a winter break!  Call for a cozy weekend getaway with gracious dining.
March 14, 15, 21 & 22 - 51st Annual Highland Maple Festival.   Click on the title for more information. We will serve our traditional Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner on Saturdays and Breakfast & Lunch on Sundays.  Room rates are $20 more during the Festival and a two night minimum stay has to be prepaid by January 31st. 
April 12 - Easter Sunday  Click on the title to see the 2008 menu.  A Highland Inn tradition, our special Sunday Brunch will include Leg of Lamb along with other delicious entrees. Please call for reservations.
May  2009 - McDowell Heritage Days  Click on the title for more information.  This event has been cancelled to prepare for the 150th anniversary of the Battle of McDowell in 2012. Come and watch the re-enactment of the battle in 2012 and visit the army camps.
